Ethio-Jazz meets the London sound: ZENA—the duo consisting of keyboardist/producer Yohan Kebede (Kokoroko) and bassist/producer Menelik Mulugeta Claffey—will bring the traditions of Ethiopian music to the “ Gannet ” on November 4 with a contemporary, electro-soulful twist.
Blending Ethio-jazz, alternative R&B, trip-hop, and dub, the duo creates a mystical, unorthodox sound that pays homage to legends like Mulatu Astatke and Hailu Mergia while also looking toward the future. With their debut single “Anchi Bale Gamé” (Brownswood Recordings) and the upcoming EP TEMESGEN (March 20, 2026), ZENA draws on the golden age of Ethiopian music and reimagines it.
