THEODOR is no longer an insider tip among sweet soul aficionados. The band's unique psychedelic approach to the genre has attracted the attention of vinyl influencers like Somewhere Soul, trendsetting radio stations like KEXP and leading record stores from Tokyo to San Francisco.

Theodor is named after a 24-year-old cat who witnessed the creation of the band's first album. The recording sessions began in the middle of the pandemic, capturing the peaceful solitude. The result was their self-titled LP. The idea to form a recording project was born on a road trip to Italy. Rob (Okta Logue) and Lui (LUI HILL) listened to tapes of contemporary soul, which became the inspiration for the project: the vision of creating an atmospheric and relaxed soundscape. The band was eventually completed by Max (Fooks Nihil) and Greg (Triorität) and THEODOR 2023 was released by French label Broc Recordz.

After their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album, the band is back with a new LP. HOLOCENE is characterized by a contemporary sound, while the four members express their admiration for the jazz of the 60s and soul and funk of the 70s. The unique male falsetto vocals and soulful timbre of the two singers tell stories of self-reflection, thoughts of departed friends, contemplation of the cosmos and a lingering hint of something greater. Soulful acoustic drums meet joyful melodic bass lines embraced by warm and dreamy synthesizers. With their new album HOLOCENE, the band has consolidated and further refined their soft and psychedelic style. Static drum machines, elastic instrumental cascades and classic song structures with pop music appeal give the album a wide sonic range and scope. Each of the ten tracks on this album evokes an almost cinematic atmosphere that stimulates the imagination. HOLOCENE is the perfect soundtrack for a hot and humid summer's day, adding a magical touch to your 12 o'clock tea. If you like the silky synthesizer of AIR, the strange and mellow vibes of early Mac DeMarco or the driving grooves of hot 70s soul and funk, you'll love Theodor.
