PROJECT AGORA is a post-genre festival founded in Basel and supported by the Basel Forum for Performing Arts, planning its first edition from 06 - 08 May 2022. The festival represents a new Basel platform created to establish a dialogue between people of all ages, different backgrounds and diverse preferences through music, bringing together different audiences and broadening their perceptions by bringing new acoustic experiences to life.
PROJECT AGORA is a space where the boundaries between different musical styles are meant to blur, creating new colours for which we do not yet know names. We invite outstanding representatives1 of different genres and cultures, both established and emerging, to collaborate over a longer period of time and let new works emerge for the festival. The PROJECT AGORA team takes it upon itself to curate interesting encounters between artists that would not otherwise arise, and to network Swiss musicians nationally and internationally.
RAP MEETS SYNTHESIZER: RYLER SMITH + BASIC BINARY
Basic Binary is a young electronic music ensemble with influences from funk, classical, house and cinematic. Now the artists from Baden meet Ryler Smith, currently one of the hottest English-speaking rappers from Switzerland. The touching symbiosis between synthesizer, drum machines, hard oldschool as well as modern beats and rap on the highest technical level promises an impressive show.
FROM TECHNO TO JAZZ: AVEM + OESTETIK
Techno and jazz, rhythm, energy and sensuality. Basel-based DJ and producer AVEM and jazz ensemble OEstetik sit down together to explore the richness of sound colors that these two worlds unleash. On the border between rave and concert, the four musicians will present a groovy, explosive live set.
AFTERPARTY: ALISSA | SIB3N | IEVA
Time passes, the clock keeps ticking. Alissa can elicit emotion where others only hear the ticking of the clock. With her distinctive minimalist selections, Alissa fills dark spaces with light. This results in timeless sets, whether early in the morning in the basement or at sunset at Katzensee. Coming from the border triangle near Basel, she has been traveling the booths of our latitudes since the mid-10s - always with a lot of love and passion for music. She laid her musical foundation at Elysia Basel and is part of the Basel LOKD family.
Thanks to a strong traditional music education, ieva's mixing style has a solid foundation, which allowed her to become a resident at the Nordstern Club in Basel for two years. Even though the Geneva-based DJ's rhythm has its natural flow in techno, the diversity of styles in her mixes, is always there to carry the audience along at any time of the night. However, whatever the wave she makes dance on, the most important thing for her is a creative curation of the rhythm and the flow. Through this, she stays true to the way she creates in all aspects of her life: less is more, through the tension of the combination.
Stay live! We keep you posted!
