Okay Kaya (born Kaya Wilkins) is about to release her fourth album and is an artist at the height of her ambivalent lyrical mastery. Known for her distinctive songwriting style that juxtaposes the glamor, instinctiveness and emotional travails of the human experience with saccharine, enraptured vocal melodies, Kaya has developed an anti-poetic art style that is liberating a generation from the burden of constant perception.
With her acclaimed albums Both (2018), Watch This Liquid Pour Itself (2020), which won the 2021 Spellemann Award for Best Indie/Alternative, Surviving Is The New Living (2020) and The Incompatible Okay Kaya (2021), the Norwegian-American musician and artist has built a loyal fanbase that spans physical and digital worlds. Portraits of Kaya's laconic wordsmithing have appeared in the form of lyricbots on social media platforms, and her critically acclaimed releases have been supported by Vogue, Dazed, Office Magazine and many others. Kaya has collaborated with artists such as Baba Stilz, Onyx Collective, Anne Imhof, Porches, King Krule, Deem Spencer, L'Rain, Austin Lee and Adinah Dancyger among many others. Her latest release SAP (2022) was written, performed, recorded and produced entirely by herself.
Okay Kaya will release her fourth longplayer this fall and play a series of headline shows.
