A new goat is in town!
CABRA - this is the name of the new association in Basel that has set itself the task of bringing strong female voices to the fore and creating interactive events that leave a mark on the heart.
With CULTURE, SESSIONS and JAM, we offer three formats that will allow you to experience magical and unifying moments in the future.
CABRA SESSIONS stand for unforgettable music evenings that celebrate folklore and take you deep into the soundscapes of different cultures. Each evening takes us on a musical and geographical journey.
CABRA CULTURE invites you on a culinary discovery tour of the respective region - it's worth coming early!
CABRA JAM is an invitation to you to make music with us. After the concert, it's "We're jammin' - and we hope you like jammin', too!". Bring your instruments or use the ones we provide on site. Together we want to create unforgettable moments with you.
So, come along and join us on our first journey together on Friday, 21.2.2025 at Gannet in Holzpark Klybeck. It will be a tribute to the rich and fascinating region of Mesopotamia.
Program:
6:30 pm - CULTURE: Hi! with Chai & Food (for a fee) by the fire behind Gannet
8:00 pm - SESSIONS: Concert starts with Assafir & Daf Connection at Gannet Club
Afterwards - JAM: Time to make music together! Bring your instruments - some will be available on site.
To our musical travel guides and storytellers: The well-known Basel group DAF CONNECTION will provide the musical prelude. With typical rhythms and instruments from Mesopotamia and the powerful voice of their singer, they will take you back to the roots of their culture. Afterwards, we are particularly looking forward to ASSAFIR. By exploring a traditional repertoire of the Greek diaspora from Thrace and Anatolia, the group combines the colors of two worlds. On both sides of the Bosphorus, oud and qanun, clarinet and quarter-tone accordion, vocals and percussion weave together sounds that bridge the East and the Balkans. The six musicians of Assafir present a rare repertoire that tells of the vastness of human emotions - of love and exile, of the search for freedom and emancipation. Both bands will take you on a musical journey that ranges from deeply moving moments to vibrant celebration. They remind us that it is festivity that saves us in all situations in life.
