The authors of this project came into contact with the story of Clorinda via Claudio Monteverdi's theatrical madrigal "II combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda". Inspired by this warrior from Torquato Tasso's epic poem "La Geruselemme liberata", the figure of Clorinda is presented as a symbol of female resilience. The thematic basis of the project revolves around the question "What does it mean to be a warrior woman today?" In this performance, music by female composers is combined with contemporary dance to represent the struggle of women in today's society. We believe that art can be a powerful weapon to raise awareness of the ubiquity of misogyny in everyday life. Body improvisation lies at the intersection of different types of musical creativity; it can help both instrumentalists and dancers discover new avenues of artistic sensitivity. Clorindae explores the connections between music performance and physical expression to create an interdisciplinary performative experience.
