CABRA Folklore Culture presents: VOTIA – Maloya from Réunion Friday, June 26, 2026 | Gannet , Holzpark Klybeck, Uferstrasse
CABRA is setting sail again. After Ireland and Scotland, this time Réunion is on the horizon—an island located somewhere between Africa, Madagascar, and India.
CABRA invites you to a special evening filled with maloya, food, fire, and fellowship.
VOTIA, led by the powerful voice of Marie-Claude Philéas Lambert—daughter of Maloya legend Gramoun Lélé—brings music to Basel that is deeply rooted in the history of resistance while exuding pure joie de vivre. Polyphony, trance, percussion. An entire family on stage. An evening that gets your feet moving and gets under your skin.
Program:
6:00 PM – CULTURE: Tea & Food at Mohramar (behind the Gannet). The evening begins in a relaxed, warm, and welcoming atmosphere. You can look forward to an authentic menu from Réunion—also available in a vegan option. A chance to settle in, chat, and get in the mood. Open to everyone, even without a ticket.
8:00 p.m. – CONCERT: VOTIA live at Gannet
Afterward – JAM SESSION around the campfire: Bring your own instruments!
