Let's go in the direction of BALKAN for the goat!

We are looking forward to an evening full of rousing rhythms, moving voices and culinary delights from the Balkans: a journey that will move your heart and your dancing legs in equal measure.

Program:

18:00 - CULTURE: Hi! with Çay & Food (for a fee) at the fire behind Gannet, at Mohramar. The Mohramar is also open for you, for those who prefer something else to drink.
20:00 - SESSIONS: Concerts with HAIMOS (CH) & QUMQUMIK (BS) at the Gannet Club
Afterwards - JAM: Time to make music together! Bring your instruments - some will be available on site.

About our musical travel & storytellers:

HAIMOS (CH)

HAIMOS will have you dancing through the ceiling to Kolo and Chiftetelli, immediately catching you in melancholy depths and treating you to multilingual gems from the Balkans and beyond. Haimos and their music come from various hills and valleys between the Jura and the Urals and tell stories from between the worlds through their own interpretations of traditional songs. With polyphonic singing and a colorful mixture of violin, trumpet, accordion,
piano, darabuka and double bass, the eight-member female group unfolds a powerful world of sound. Their performances are as danceable as they are touching and build bridges from ancient tradition to contemporary energy.

QUMQUMIK (BS)

QUMQUMIK, Kurdish for lizard, is a band from Basel that combines psychedelic rock with rhythms and instruments from the Kurdish cultural area, yodeling and cowbells. With drums, synthesizers, violins and electric guitars, the quartet plays rock, folk and electronic sounds.
QUMQUMIK is a jam and percussion band whose songs tell stories from dialect to gromelo - of wild donkeys, cows in the rain and lizards under the scorching desert sun.
With drums, rattles and percussion woods, driving and odd beats, self-composed and improvised sound rollercoasters, QUMQUMIK create wild music that invites you to dance barefoot and travel along.
