AKIRA was born in Zurich, grew up bilingual—his mother is from French-speaking Switzerland and his father is from Buenos Aires—and found his way into music at the age of 13. Influenced by Prince, Michael Jackson, and Chet Baker, as well as tango legends such as Carlos Gardel and Facundo Cabral, he blends multiple languages and cultures into a sound all his own in his songs.
After three years with the cult label Live From Earth and five years as an independent artist, AKIRA has gained over 120,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and collaborated with acts such as the Zurich jazz duo Okvsho and Berlin DJ star DJ Southstar. Now he’s presenting his new solo album, “Niños del Bosque,” live on stage—an evening full of musical warmth and cultural diversity.
